I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...
Why do you have this hunch?
It seems like all the LUDs on approved I140 from Texas for July filers is pointing towards their I485 being sent to Texas too. Hence, this unimaginable prolonged delay. Can we do anything about it except sulk?

A note to my fellow IV members - I am not after the $42/Hr job. Good luck in finding a US citizen to do this job. I was wrong about EEO, it is actually IRCA which prohibits discrimination in recruitment and hiring.

But the point remains - visa status based discrimination is illegal not matter which law is being violated, and must be highlighted. We have to correct the misinformation spread by anti-immigrant groups that most jobs are "reserved for H1Bs", while the reality is different. Most jobs are "reserved" for American workers (although such reservation is illegal under IRCA). We have to provide the proof that the myth of "thousands of jobs reserved for foreign workers" in nothing but a myth. My posting is a small step in that direction.
Here is another one in the continuing series of exposing the highly prevalent illegal hiring practice. I request everyone to start posting similar job-ads you get from recruiters. Once we get a hundred or more ads here, we can start E-mailing the links to the media.

Hi Gene,
The main two applications you need to file is 1) PR card 2) SIN card.
No, you cannot file for the PR card online and as far as I know same goes for the SIN card.
1) The officer will take down your information for the PR card during the landing process. The picture you sent them will be used for this and no need to take new pictures. However you need to give them a Canadian address for them to send you the PR card. They will not accept a US address and no PO boxes. So I suggest that you give a friend's or relatives's address if you plan to return to the US after landing. After your friend receives the PR card he can mail it to you in the US.
2) During the landing procedure you will receive a packet of documents and it will have information on how to apply for your SIN card. All you need to do is go to one of their offices on a weekday during working hours with your landing papers and fill a form. There too you need to provide a Canadian address.
In addition to these you must bring with you a list of goods you are bringing with you and a list of goods that will arrive later. This is to be submitted to Canadian customs. Then you must bring bankstatements etc proving that you have the required amount of funds.
When I landed I had not applied for AOS. So I am not sure what kind of effect the Canadian PR will have when you return to the US. Hope someone who landed after filing 485 would throw some light on that.

Since we are in a fighting mood, I will throw some fuel to the fire :) :)
When you think about it, reservation and quota system is actually a better deal for the upper caste.
First check out this picture, which details the population percentages and proposed reservations: File:PopulationEstimations.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PopulationEstimations.jpg)
As per the above picture, 52% of people in India belongs to Backward classes according to Mandal estimates. Since the proposed reservation for them is 27%, the reservation system works in favor of Forward classes as long as Backward classes are not uplifted from their current pathetic situation. Another way of looking at the graph is that 25.5% of people in India belongs to forward classes; and their share in the Indian pie in terms of higher education of job opportunities --> (100 - 27 - 22.5 = 50.5%). Personally I like this system, than 25.5% of us getting only 25.5% of our share.
To conclude:

Buddy, it looks like its only you and me remaining who has not received the FP notice. For me its been 30 days since opening SR and nothing. We are the unfortunate ones who have not only not received FP but our application are in TSC , where opening an SR is of no use.
I am July 2 filer (@TSC), still waiting for FP notice. Got I-485 receipt (ND Aug 27), and approved EAD and AP. Did not call for SR yet.

Coming to your point: Who are those people that are facing legal action again? And you're telling ME, that I dont have compassion? Compassion for who? For someone who has faked resumes, filed for H-1B visas w/o a job offer? And why do you think they deserve compassion?
You effing ahole.. Are you following any news lately? See how many states are trying to take criminal action against those who made such loans falsifying the documents. The ones who "made" the loans collaboarted with the borrower to bring up stated income.
If you always "do the rght thing", for your way looking down on all others , you should go kill yourself. That is the right thing to do for the way you live without compassion, not being able to make an argument without calling names, death for you is the right thing. So, tell me how is that "right thing" coming along.

As far as I know this is a genuine company and not a typical small desi company.
Did you sign some paper saying that you will reimburse the GC costs if you leave the company? If it was signed before the GC process started then it is not against the law that the company is holding back the $4K. This is a big company and I don't think the $4k matters to them much.
As far as experience letter, they have to give it.
Also, sometimes we get mad at the company even though its our own mistake. So, before filling anything with the labor department, make sure you have not signed the papers. By reporting them you are basically giving trouble to others who are in GC process through them.

And recently came to know that its not just me but there are several other consultants being harassed by them upon leaving the company. Even after years of working with them, they still want to have them hooked and are depriving the cosultants of better living. how justified is that????

i had call several times open service request 3times but no help finelly i took infopass and went to atlanta to see io he fineally shedule me for 28th may but i have not receive appointment letter yet .

its not just this employer, many f____ employers have same issue they dont want to file 485 and atleast they are trying to delay the process as much as possible. They are fearing that the employees on L visas will have an oppurtunity to switch company if they get their GCs sooner.
Its our fate
L visas are a real problem as Employer can send you back and replace you even after filing 485 .Sweat talk is the only option for them.H1s are some what better atleast they can move to a different employer
